Mr. Montoya serves as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and the Civilian Business Unit Senior Vice President at Sev1Tech.
In his role as COO, Mr. Montoya is responsible for the implementation of Sev1Tech business strategies, plans and procedures, customer satisfaction and the establishment of comprehensive goals for performance and growth. He helps establish policies that promote company culture and vision and oversees daily operations of the company. Mr. Montoya also manages the proposal and capture activities for Sev1Tech ensuring that growth performance is monitored and measured. As the Civilian Business Unit leader Mr. Montoya manages and coordinates all the activities associated with growing the Civilian portfolio. He is responsible for ensuring performance metrics for revenue and profitability goals are met, managing civilian customer satisfaction, and effectively communicating Sev1Tech corporate goals to the Civilian project managers and teams.
With over 30 years of experience in IT Service Management (ITSM), Operations and Maintenance, and Business Process Improvement, Joe has led the execution of several IT operational excellence initiatives for both commercial and federal customers that improved efficiency and delivered cost savings. By applying industry best practices, proactive support tools, and advanced enterprise management monitoring and automation, Mr. Montoya has helped customers improve situational awareness, proactively address problems before they occur, and reduce the number of business downtime hours.
Prior to joining Sev1Tech, Mr. Montoya has held several high-level leadership positions. He has served as an Engineering Fellow and Vice President of Enterprise Technical services for a small business directing strategic IT operational assessments for several Federal customers and conducting operational functions necessary to run the Enterprise Technical Services business unit.
As a Senior Vice President at Reuters, he was responsible for IT Service Management for global IT operations services across Europe, Asia, and the Americas regions. His IT operations teams provided services that supported more than 220 locations worldwide, six multi-media production centers, and six major data center facilities. Mr. Montoya also served as SVP/Global head of Network Architecture and Design for Reuters where he led a Network transition program that reduced communications costs by 20 million dollars. While at Reuters he served as Chairman of the Content Technology Security Steering Group and was an active member in the Global Security team that was responsible for security policy and governance. As the SVP for Global News Operations at Reuters Joe was responsible for IT strategy and governance for global News Operations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas region (186 bureaus worldwide). In this role he was responsible for meeting corporate business goals, resources and technical infrastructure, including management of global systems, global network, global desktops and servers, and global deployment of technology.
Mr. Montoya holds a master’s degree in Executive Management of information Systems from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Capital College. He also has two AAS degrees, one in Computer Maintenance and one in Electronics.
